What can I write about?

Here are some suggestions:

  • What are three important characteristics of a hero?

  • Who is a role model of yours? Share about someone you admire in your community or in history.

  • What are some books that inspire change? What do you like about the book?

What is this contest about?

This year’s magazine is about changemakers, who make change and create hope. They might be people we learn about in history class, or maybe people we meet everyday!

We want to celebrate these heroes, big and small, and think about ways we can make a change in the world!

Can I also submit art?

Yes! Send art to arcticreadingcircle@gmail.com. We might also publish that as well. Here are some art-related prompts:

  • Draw a picture of someone who made a good change in the world, one that gives you hope. This could be someone like Terry Fox, for example.

  • What does the perfect world look like to you? What changes need to be made?

When will the magazine be finished?

We hope to get it done before January 2024, and that is when we will send it out to the writers who submitted. There might be a small fee ($5) to purchase a physical copy, however, there will be a digital version online.
